The difference between different types of camera straps

We have compiled a guide to straps for photographers. We have quite a lot of models and many customers are wondering which one to choose.

All of the camera straps from Desired Leather can be divided into 3 categories:

The first category – Wide strap width.

The second category – Narrow strap width.

The third category – Combined strap width.

* Every single category can be manufactured in 2 styles – crisscross or with a logo backpiece.

Let’s start with wide camera straps.

The width of the straps is 3.8 cm.
They are available with a crisscross on the back or with a logo backpiece.

Suitable – for all types of cameras and lenses with standart 1/4″ mount on the bottom, distribute the weight of the equipment even on the shoulders  as well as possible, minimal pressure on the shoulders due to the wider strap width.

Recommended for those who have heavy cameras. And for people with a large and medium build.

Next category Narrow straps.

The width of the straps is 2.5 cm.

They are also available with a crisscross on the back or with a logo.

Suitable for all types of cameras, and people with an average and fragile physique. The narrow strap width does not make them less durable, but more elegant and compact view. Since these straps are narrow, the pressure on the shoulders is more noticeable during long shoots, so recommended to use with light and medium weight equipment.

The third category – Combined straps.

The width of the straps is 3.8cm at the shoulders and 2.5cm at the other straps.

They are also available with a criscross on the back or with a logo backpiece.

Suitable for all types of cameras, and people with any physique. Since these straps have wide shoulder straps, they perfectly distribute the weight of the cameras on the shoulders and are less noticeable under your arms due to narrow longer strap width. Suitable for both heavy and light equipment.

Color, the presence of a stitching, are not technically important things, these are the design elements.

All our straps are equally strong and durable, made from the same cow leather, carabiners and fittings are the same for any of them. The price may vary due to how long and hard is to manufacture the item.

For the most part, you need to rely on your taste, the weight of your cameras, and your body build.
